Why: These records were only set last year but they were set by one of the youngest US track and field Olympians ever, Sydney McLaughlin. She is a once-in-a-lifetime type of talent, and I don't foresee anyone coming along beating her records anytime soon. The current US No. 1 in the 300m is 38.38, held by Britton Wilson from Mills Godwin high school in Virginia. Bailey Lear from Frisco Heritage High School (TX) holds the current US No. 1 tie in the 400m dash with her 53.20 from the Texas Tech Open. Lear is the eighth fastest performer all-time in the 400m but has several seconds to drop to reach McLaughlin's level.
