New Orleans, La. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country squad has earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic status for the 2011 season. The Eagles compiled a 3.28 grade point average. A total of 187 institutions representing 38 conferences earned the all-academic award.
All nine institutions representing the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) earned all-academic status. Joining UW-L were UW-Eau Claire, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, UW-Superior and UW-Whitewater.
Of the 32 teams that participated in the national championship meet, 31 of those earned All-Academic status – including all eight regional champion teams.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better.
UW-L finished third at the 2011 WIAC Championships and sixth at the 2011 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Midwest Regional.
