Buchholtz Named Coach of the Year

Madison, Wis. - The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its award winners following the completion of the 2012 men's outdoor track and field championships, based on voting by the league coaches.  UW-La Crosse head coach Josh Buchholtz was selected the WIAC Men's Coach of the Year.

UW-Eau Claire freshman Thurgood Dennis was chosen the Men's Track Performer of the Meet and UW-Oshkosh junior Nick Baatz claimed the Men's Field Performer of the Meet trophy.

Buchholtz secured the coaching honor for the fourth consecutive season after leading the Eagles to their 22nd straight WIAC first-place trophy.  UW-La Crosse won two individuals titles and a pair of relay crowns during the two-day meet.

Dennis secured first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 10.54 and 21.26, respectively. Both of his times established facility records. Dennis was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that placed third with a time of 41.81.

Baatz won the shot put and discus with marks of 59-2 and 178-11, respectively. His heave in the shot put established a facility record. Baatz also placed seventh in hammer throw with a fling of 179-9.
