Track & Field Teams Set for NCAA Championships

La Crosse, Wis. - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's track and field teams will compete at the 2012 NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26.  Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (Calif.) will serve as host of the championships.  Events begin at noon (Central Time) each day at Burns Track Complex.

Nine women will compete for the Eagles, including Claire Elliott (200-Meter Dash; 400-Meter Dash; 4x100-Meter Relay; 4x400-Meter Relay); Jenna Halvorson (4x400-Meter Relay); Shannon Klein (4x400-Meter Relay); Jaime Ludwigson (4x100-Meter Relay); Marissa Mahr (400-Meter Hurdles); Hannah Mueller (4x100-Meter Relay); Bailey Sauerwein (Shot Put); Rebecca Scheuermann (4x400-Meter Relay) and Caitlin Wippermann (100-Meter Dash, 200-Meter Dash, 4x100-Meter Relay).

Twenty men have qualified for the NCAA III Championships.  Andy Grossman will compete for the Eagles in the heptathlon.  On the track,  Troy Brooks (4x400-Meter Relay); Aric Hoeschen (400-Meter Dash; 4x400-Meter Relay); Adam Nichols (110-Meter Hurdles); David Sikorski (4x100-Meter Relay); Jared Sitte (4x100-Meter Relay); Nick Tehan (4x400-Meter Relay); Terrence Thigpen (100-Meter Dash, 200-Meter Dash; 4x100-Meter Relay); Christian Wendland (4x400-Meter Relay) and Tyson Young (4x400-Meter Relay) will compete for UW-L.

Brooks will also compete in the long jump.

Other field event competitors include Jeremiah Burish, David Pergande and Rob Rohe in the pole vault and Tony Bilderback, Brett Davis, Chris Haase, Clark Lundquist and Isaac Vazquez in the long jump.  Vazquez will also compete in the triple jump.  Grant Havard and Andy Novak will compete in the discus throw while Novak will also compete in the shot put.
