UW-L Tied for Sixth at NCAA Championships

Claremont, Calif. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team completed second day action at the 2012 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Championships Friday night at Burns Track Complex.  The Eagles are tied for sixth-place with 12.0 team points while UW-Stout leads with 28.0.  UW-Oshkosh is in second-place with 21.0 and Carthage College (Wis.) is third with 16.0.  Wartburg College (Iowa) is fourth (14.3 points) with Central College (Iowa) fifth (14.0).  UW-Eau Claire is tied with UW-L in sixth-place.

In Friday's action, UW-L's Andy Grossman finished 16th in the decathlon (6,271 points).

The Eagles had a pair of runners advance to Saturday's finals.  Terrence Thigpen advanced to the 100-meter dash final after a preliminary time of 10.65 Friday.  He will also compete in the 200-meter dash final Saturday.

Aric Hoeschen will run in the 400-meter dash final with a preliminary time of 47.89.

UW-L's Adam Nichols failed to advance to the 110-meter hurdles final after a time of 15.08 in Friday's preliminaries. 

Action concludes Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
