The VA Showcase Is Now A Millrose Mile Qualifier!

NEW YORK, NY. - The 2019 VA Showcase will serve as an automatic qualifier for the storied Millrose Games' High School Mile. This will mark the second time that the longest running track meet in the world has allowed a meet outside of New York to act as an auto-qualifier.

VA Showcase Meet Registration

On top of the Mile event, the 55m Dash, 300m Dash, Boys 500m Dash, and Girls 600m Dash will also serve as auto-qualifiers into the 55, 300, and 600 this February.

To achieve an automatic spot in the Mile the winners must run 4:15 or faster in the guys' race and 4:55 or faster in the girls' race. If those times are not hit, the winners will still receive strong consideration for an at-large invitation. The 55, 300, 500, and 600 do not have any restrictions.

"The VA Showcase has made a tremendous impact on the national scene by drawing many of the nations best athletes; now with the high honor and privilege of being named a Millrose mile qualifier the meet enters the pantheon of 'must go', 'must see', 'must be there' competitions in the United States."
- Tom Cuffe, Co-Meet Director

Even though the indoor season has yet to even start, The VA Showcase is already looking like the best meet all season. It currently has over 30 national champions entered and has athletes entered from over a dozen states and multiple countries. Even though the meet has seen five national records over the past two years, this year looks to be the best one yet.

About the NYRR Millrose Games

With a storied history that spans more than a century, the NYRR Millrose Games is one of track and field's most prestigious and enduring annual events. A New York City sports staple, the meet moved to the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in Washington Heights in 2012 after having called Madison Square Garden home from 1914 to 2011. The Games-established by employees of Wanamaker's Department Store-features track and field's most prolific male and female stars as well as collegiate, high school, club and youth competitors. More than 200 athletes share the distinction of being both Millrose and Olympic champions. In November of 2013, New York Road Runners became the title sponsor of the NYRR Millrose Games, which is owned by The Armory Foundation. The NYRR Millrose Games is a USATF television series event and The Armory Foundation appreciates the support of USA Track and Field.
