No. 3 Fayetteville-Manlius (NY)

Analysis: Head coach Bill Aris has five runners back from the team that ran at Nike Cross Nationals last year. And he's got a very strong group at the top, led by MileSplit50 No. 7 Claire Walters, and senior Phoebe White. Junior Grace Kaercher and freshman Hannah Kaercher add great depth, while the 5-6-and-7 positions will battle it out in 2019. Aris' teams run a certain way, and that's no secret. The Hornets always seem to be in the hunt for trophies because they're never out there by themselves -- a defining trait of successful F-M teams has always been a superior spread. This year's team seems inclined to follow in that tradition. With an average of 18:28.20, the Hornets will be talented. The squad finished second at the New York state championships and NXR New York. It finished fourth at NXN. Can F-M find its winning form again in those meets? We'll wait and see in 2019.

Biggest question: Can the Hornets register another national title?

For the longest time F-M looked unbeatable at NXN. Until last year. A youth movement was working its way up the ranks, and this year that team is more veteran, older, and wiser. More than that, this year's Hornet's team has a greater chance of picking up where it left off in 2017.
