Weekend Meet Recap: Highlights From Week Five



We got out to see teams from across Wisconsin compete this past weekend and captured some impressive performances! Check out some photo and performance highlights here!

Gartzke Flowage Invitational


We got out to a new part of the state to see teams compete on a beautiful course surrounded by trees with early fall colors. On the boys side, Callahan Laggis of Rhinelander took the win in 19:16.80. Rhinelander also had the team win, finishing one point ahead of Medford Area, whose top runner freshman Tanner Hraby had a sixth place individual finish (20:27.20).

On the girls' side, freshman Nora Gremban came in first with 21:37.40. She was followed by Alicia Kawa (22:45.90) and Bryn Fronk (23:07.70), who lead Medford Area to a team win.

Boys Wisconsin State Invitational


Some of the top teams in the state went head to head Thursday night. Joshua Truchon of West Allis Hale was the only runner to break 16 minutes, and won with a time of 15:23.20. Arrowhead took the team win, with top runner Seth Ray finishing third in 16:06.00. All seven teams had a runner finish in the top seven places at the meet. 

Eagle Relays 


At Friday night's quad, Nick Connolly, a senior from Iowa-Grant, won the meet in 16:56.30. On the girls side, Kayci Martensen had another individual win this week, finishing in a time of 18:42.70. Freshman Mallory Olmstead (20:25.20) came in third, leading Lancaster to a team win.

Deerfield/Cambridge Quad


Nathan Cumberbatch of Shorewood had another win this week, finishing in 17:02.13. With Cumberbatch in the lead, Shorewood also had the team win for the boys. The Shorewood girls also won the meet with a perfect 15-point score. Bella Lozier (19:29.00), Annika Elliott (20:09.44), Addie Kemp (20:49.99), Louisa Fowler (20:58.86), and Grace Optekar (21:17.96) made up the scoring five. Waunakee finished second as a team, with their first runner Anna Vanderhoef (21:52.46) finishing in sixth place.
