Week 8 Recap: Conference and JV Highlights


As we close out a week of conference meets and get ready to move into post-season competition, check out highlights from our Week 8 coverage here!

SWAL Conference Championship

On the boys' side, Boscobel repeated as the SWAL conference team champ, finishing with 52 points. Team runner-up Iowa-Grant was lead by senior Nick Connolly, who won the individual title with a time of 16:23.10.


Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton's Kayci Martensen earned a conference title and set a new PR with her 17:37.84 performance. Fennimore took the team win, led by Brynlee Nelson (19:49.70) and Lauryn Bunn (20:03.50).

GNC Conference Championships


Joe Sullivan of Medford Area ran a PR of 16:40.90 to win the GNC title. The race extends his season-long record of first place finishes. Tomahawk senior Noah Buckwalter came in a close second, finishing in 16:42.60. Tomahawk had the team win with 32 points, 31 points ahead of second-place Lakeland Union.

Senior Kate Melms of Lakeland Union finished in a time of 19:47.40 to earn the girls' GNC title. Medford Area had the team win, led by a third place finish from freshman Meredith Richter (20:01.80).

West Bend East JV Meet


Michael Loomans of Slinger ran a time of 17:58.10 for a first place finish. West Bend West's Tyler May (17:59.40) followed close behind for second place. West earned the team win, with runners sweeping the second through sixth finishing positions. West also had the girls' team win, led by a first place finish from freshman Alyssa Connor (21:44.30).

Classic 8 JV Conference Championships


Mukwonago finished first with 24 points, led by a 1-2 finish from sophomore Blake Roberts (17:13.84) and junior Gio Anello (17:25.80).

Senior Ani Oxborough of Muskego won the girls' race in 19:48.68. In second was teammate Sarah Martens, who finished in 20:21.23. The pair was joined by Sophia Kennedy, Olivia Pietras, and Nicky Hansen, who all finished in the top eight positions to give Muskego a team win.

Midwest Classic Conference


Just up the hill from the Classic 8 JV Championships at Arrowhead, runners lined up for the Midwest Classic Conference Championships. With sub-sectionals and sectionals approaching in the week ahead, several key runners, including USM's Drew Stephens, were missing from the competition.

Lake Country Lutheran made a strong showing for the team win, with top runner and MWC conference champ Carter Dauenhauer breaking just under 17 minutes to finish in a personal best time of 16:59.7. Living Word Lutheran followed two points behind, led by second-place finisher Nick Johnson (17:12.3).

Competing for the girls' team title was Living Word Lutheran, Lake Country Lutheran, and Kenosha Christian Life School. Living Word Lutheran took the win, with all five scoring runners finishing in the fourth through eighth positions. Top finisher, senior Emma Upton came through in a time of 21:52.8.

While not having enough runners to compete for a team place, Heritage Christian's Sierra Balderas took the individual title, finishing in 20:54.5.
