2022 Champs Midwest Regional Recap: Team Ohio

Since the conclusion of the cross-country season here in Ohio a few weeks ago, many have opted to travel to Kenosha, WI, for the 2022 Champs Sports Midwest Region Championships to try and book themselves a ticket to San Diego, CA, for the Champs National Championships, which will take place December 10th.

For one to earn their spot, the runner must place Top-10 in either the Boys' or Girls' Championship Division. Many Ohioans were slated to run, with 3 booking themselves a trip to San Diego to represent the Midwest at the iconic Balboa Park. Those 3 being Katie Clute, Connor Ackley, and Tommy Rice, all of whom had stellar cross country seasons this recent fall.

Both Ackley and Clute went undefeated during this Ohio 2022 cross country campaign, posting nationally ranked personal bests in the process, and inevitably winning their respective races at the OHSAA D1 State Championships.

Tommy Rice as well, who posted 8 victories out of 10 races during this Ohio season, and eventually placing 3rd at the OHSAA D1 State Championships, and now just earned himself a spot for the Champs Sports National Cross Country Championships.
