A Thirst-Quenching Run Across USA

When most people finish a long run, they usually guzzle down cups and cups of ice-cold water. However, 24-year old Abe Clark has been running for well over 100 days and continues to provide water to others.

The former Green Bay cross-country standout is currently on a coast-to-coast run in an attempt to raise $100,000 for clean drinking water in impoverished countries.  So far Clark has fundraised over $68,000 for Living Water International, a non-for-profit organization has coordinated clean water initiatives in over 20 countries.

The 2,860-mile journey began on Feb. 15 in Oceanside, Calf. and is on pace to finish in early July in Atlantic City, N.J.  That distance is comparable to 109 marathons, as Clark will cross 15 states on an average of 21 miles per day.  If Clark completes his journey, he will become just the 15th person ever to finish a run across the United States without the support of a vehicle.

Although Clark is running solo, family, friends and fans can follow along on his travels as he posts blogs, tweets and pictures from his laptop every night.  During the day his computer is housed by a baby jogger, in which he named "Ruby", that carries his food, drinks, clothes, shoes, cell phone, camera etc...

With roughly 700 miles left to go, Clark is on pace to achieve his $100,000 goal, however he is still urging people to donate.  Individuals wising to give their support can visit his website at www.runningwater.cc.
