Madison, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-La Crosse senior Andy Novak of Waukesha (Mukwonago) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.  He finished second in the shot put (60-8) at the UW-Madison Red & White Invitational February 17.  

His mark currently ranks as the top throw in NCAA Division III this season and is the third-best throw in NCAA Division III history behind UW-L's Tom Newberry (second) and Hamline University's (Minn.) Mike Manders (first). 

Novak's throw is currently 23rd across all NCAA Divisions.

UW-L returns to action Friday, February 24 at the WIAC Championships at UW-Stout.
