WIAC Indoor Championships Results
Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team finished in third-place at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championships Saturday night in UW-Stout's Johnson Fieldhouse. The Eagles totaled 108.0 team points while UW-Oshkosh captured the league title with 152.0. UW-Eau Claire was second with 121.0. UW-Whitewater placed fourth (84.0) followed by UW-Stevens Point (67.0), UW-River Falls (60.0), UW-Stout (52.0), UW-Platteville (43.0) and UW-Superior (15.0).
UW-L, which has won 10 of the last 13 indoor titles and a league-best 20 in school history, also finished third last year.
The Eagles captured the 4x200-meter relay (1:42.95) with
Jaime Ludwigson,
Jenna Halvorson,
Hannah Mueller and
Caitlin Wippermann. UW-L set a facility record in winning the event Saturday and captured its ninth 4x200-meter relay in the last 11 seasons.
Kailey Charlton,
Kelsey Katarow,
Lauren Seidl and
Laurel Beck won the event in 2010.
UW-L's 4x400-meter relay of
Claire Elliott, Halvorson,
Shannon Klein and
Rebecca Scheuermann placed second (3:55.47) Saturday.
Jena Weigel was fourth (2,984 points) in the pentathlon for UW-L.
Other top finishes on the track Saturday included Elliott placing second (57.79) in the 400-meter dash while
Rebecca Schmidt was third (7.87) in the 60-meter dash and sixth (26.13) in the 200-meter dash. Wippermann recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 60 (7.89) and 200 (26.07) meter dashes.
Mueller was eighth (8.12) in the 60-meter dash while Halvorson finished seventh (59.55) in the 400-meter dash and ninth (26.81) in the 200-meter dash.
In the 800-meter run, Scheuermann was fifth (2:19.02) and
Megan Knutson ninth (2:20.65). Knutson was also selected to the 2012 All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team.
Amanda Gresl was seventh (5:19.37) and
Megan Stats ninth (5:21.31) in the mile run with
Corissa Conard placing ninth (10:43.89) and
Rachel Schroeder 10th (10:45.56) in the 3,000-meter run.
Ludwigson was eighth (9.32) in the 60-meter hurdles.
In the field events,
Bailey Alston finished sixth (35-9 1/4) and Mueller ninth (34-4) in the triple jump while
Nicole Flackey was 10th (50-0 3/4) in the weight throw.
