Lundquist Wins Long Jump at Pointer Qualifier

Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team competed at the Pointer Qualifier Saturday afternoon at UW-Stevens Point.  No team scores were recorded.  The Eagles' Clark Lundquist captured the long jump (22-6 1/2) while Jeffrey Hill and Jeremiah Burish tied for second in the pole vault (15-1).  UW-L's Brett Davis placed second in the triple jump (45-1) while John Cooper was second in the weight throw (61-6 1/4).

Other top finishes in the field events included Daniel Petkau third in the triple jump (44-0) while Christopher Haase was fourth in the long jump (21-8).  The Eagles' David Pergande was fifth in the pole vault (14-7 1/4) while Alex Zart finished fifth (51-7 3/4) and Adam Poellinger 11th (46-11 1/2) in the shot put.

On the track, UW-L's distance medley relay of Andrew Rohlman, Tyson Young, Sean Royer and David Stilin placed second (10:03.37) while the the distance medley relay of Tyler Heinz, Nick Tehan, Eric Smits and Bruce Schmitz finished third (10:03.81).

Alex Koenen was third (6.92) and Jared Sitte fifth (6.98) in the 60-meter dash while Joe DeRosier placed sixth (8.49) and Adam Nichols seventh (8.52) in the 60-meter hurdles.

UW-L returns to action Friday, March 9 at the NCAA III Indoor Championships in Grinnell, Iowa.
