Winona State "Last Minute" Invitational Results
Winona, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team opened its 2012 outdoor season at the Winona State University "Last Minute" Invitational Friday night at Paul Giel Field. No team scores were recorded, but six athletes earned individual titles for the Eagles.
On the track,
Terrence Thigpen took the 200-meter dash (22.19) and
Adam Nichols the 110-meter hurdles (15.81). In the field events, UW-L's
Nick Stone won the high jump (5-10 3/4);
Rob Rohle the pole vault (14-11 1/2),
Andy Novak the shot put (56-10 3/4) and
Grant Havard the discus throw (163-11).
Other top finishes on the track Friday included
Aric Hoeschen second (22.26),
Tyson Young third (22.69),
Joe DeRosier fourth (23.08) and
Christopher Eberle fifth (23.09) in the 200-meter dash. DeRosier was also second (15.89) in the 110-meter hurdles with
Alex Jelich fourth (17.00).
In the field events,
Andy Grossman and
Travis Gallick tied for second in the high jump (5-8 3/4) for UW-L while
Gary Trkula,
Jeffrey Hill and
Bryan Klister tiedf or second on the pole vault (14-5 1/2).
John Cooper was second (48-10 1/4) in the shot put while
Alex Zart finished third (47-3 1/2),
Adam Poellinger fourth (46-3 1/2) and Havard fifth (45-9 1/4).
In the discus throws, Novak was second (152-7), Cooper third (149-8) and
Ross Van Glahn fourth (142-5). Cooper finished second (172-0) in the hammer throw with Von Glahn third (167-11), Havard fourth (150-10) and Poellinger fifth (149-8).
