Men's Track & Field Team Places Third at Wartburg

Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team placed third at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Select Friday night.  The Eagles finished with 134.0 team points while Wartburg College (Iowa) won the title with 176.5.  UW-Eau Claire was second with 171.0 while Augustana College (Ill.) placed fourth with 131.0 and UW-Platteville finished fifth with 109.5.  Grand View University (Iowa) placed sixth with 43.0 points and the University of Dubuque (Iowa) finished seventh with 24.5.

Three individuals claimed first-place finishes Friday as Terrence Thigpen won the 100-meter dash (10.80), Rob Rohe the pole vault (4.87 meters) and Andy Novak the shot put (17.53).

Other top finishes on the track included Christopher Eberle third in the 200-meter dash (23.02); Troy Brooks in the 100-meter dash (10.94) and Jerry Kerska fourth in the 800-meter run (1:56.91).

Andrew Heinritz placed third (3:58.41) and Andrew Rohlman fifth (3:58.79) in the 1,500-meter run while Carlton Folster finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run (15:39.50).  The Eagles' Joe DeRosier was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.25).

UW-L's 4x400-meter relay of Tyson Young, Mitchell Reiser, Jamie Bottcher and Travis Gallick finished second (3:18.09) while the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle of Adam Nichols, Andy Grossman, DeRosier and Luke Ackerson placed second (1:03.49).

In the field events, Jeremiah Burish tied second in the pole vault (4.75 meters) while Jeffrey Hill, Gary Trkula and Bryan Klister tied for fourth (4.45).

Grant Havard was second in the discus throw (51.08) with John Cooper placing fourth in the hammer throw (53.14) and fifth in the discus throw (48.00).  Ross Von Glahn was fifth in the hammer throw (52.01).

Alex Zart was fifth in the shot put (15.28).
