2012 Esten Classic Results
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field squad captured the
Phil Esten Challenge Friday night at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles finished with 162.83 team points while UW-Oshkosh was second with 133.33. A total of 11 teams competed in the meet. Five individuals claimed titles Friday for UW-L. On the track,
Jamie Ludwigson won the 100-meter hurdles (14.99);
Claire Elliott the 400-meter dash (56.79),
Marissa Mahr the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.77) and
Rebecca Scheuermann the 800-meter run (2:17.29). In the field events,
Megan Marfilius won the high jump (5-5 1/4).
UW-L also won the 4x400-meter relay (3:52.34).
Other top finishes on the track Friday included
Rebecca Schmidt placing second (12.34) in the 100-meter dash while
Rebecca Schroeder was second (11:27.76) and
Karyn Genrich fifth (12:09.02) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Crystal Oravis finished second (1:05.29) and
Rena Kneeland fifth (1:08.25) in the 400-meter hurdles.
Kristin Lillie placed fourth (4:53.48) in the 1,500-meter run.
The Eagles'
Caitlin Wippermann was third (25.44) in the 200-meter dash and
Corissa Conard placed fourth (18:22.36) in the 5,000-meter run.
In the field events,
Summer Tietz and
Erika Whitson tied for second (10-10 1/4) in the pole vault while Ludwigson finished fourth (36-1 1/2) in the triple jump.
Bailey Sauerwein was fifth (42-3 1/4) in the shot put.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, April 21 at the Winona State University (Minn.) Warrior Open.
