Elliott and Healy Earn WIAC Awards

Madison, Wis. - The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its award winners following the completion of the 2012 women's outdoor track and field championships, based on voting by the league coaches.  UW-La Crosse freshman Claire Elliott was selected the Track Performer of the Meet from the WIAC championship while the Eagles' Pat Healy was named the WIAC Coach of the Year.

UW-Oshkosh junior Breanna Strupp received the Women's Field Performer of the Meet.

Elliott won the 400-meter dash with a facility record time of 55.49 and was a member of the victorious 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay teams that established facility and conference meet records for UW-L.

The 4x100-meter squad had a time of 47.11, while the 4x400-meter quartet recorded a time of 3:47.55.

Elliott also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.84.

Healy secured the coaching honor for the seventh time in his career after leading the Eagles to their fifth league championship in the last six years.  UW-La Crosse won two individual titles and two relay crowns during the two-day meet.

Strupp posted first-place finishes in the discus and shot put with marks of 160-0 and 45-11 3/4, respectively. She won the discus for the second straight year and placed fifth in the hammer throw with a fling of 167-1.
