Women's Track & Field Team Hosts NCAA Qualifier

Relays Sets School Record

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field squad hosted a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Qualifier Thursday night at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.  No team scores were recorded.  The Eagles won the 4x400-meter relay (3:45.64) with Jenna Halvorson, Rebecca Scheuermann, Shannon Klein and Claire Elliott.  The time of 3:45.64 broke the school record of 3:47.55 set by Halvorson, Scheuermann, Caitlin Wippermann and Elliott at the WIAC Championships May 5.

UW-L's 4x100-meter relay of Jamie Ludwigson, Wippermann, Hannah Mueller and Rebecca Schmidt placed second (46.86) Thursday.

Other top finishes on the track included Wippermann placing second in the 100 (11.98) and 200 (24.63) meter dashes while Marissa Mahr was second (1:02.99), Crystal Oravis seventh (1:05.64) and Rena Kneeland 10th (1:08.15) in the 400-meter hurdles.

In the 5,000-meter run, Karyn Genrich placed third (19:28.40) and Megan Knutson sixth (20:39.95).

In the field events, Bailey Alston was second in the long jump (18-3 3/4) while Bailey Sauerwein was second in the shot put (42-6 3/4).

Kayla Ashland finished fourth (5-2 1/4) and Amy Jo Garinger tied for sixth (5-0 1/4) in the high jump.

Nicole Flackey was sixth (159-10) and Jessica Ramel seventh (156-2) in the hammer throw. The Eagles' Summer Tietz tied for 10th (10-8) in the pole vault while Erika Whitson was 12th (10-8), Maddison Norlin 13th (10-8) and Christy Moses 14th (10-2).

UW-L returns to action Thursday, May 24 at the NCAA Division III Championships in Claremont, California.
