Elliott Earns NCAA III All-America Honors

Claire Elliott earned All-America honors in the 200-meter dash Saturday afternoon.

Claremont, Calif. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team completed third and final day action at the 2012 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Championships Saturday night at Burns Track Complex.  The Eagles recorded 1.0 team point to tie for 73rd-place while Wartburg College (Iowa) won the national crown with 129.0 points.  UW-Oshkosh placed second with 52.0 followed by the University of Mount Union (Ohio) in third with 34.0.  Methodist University (N.C.) was fourth with 29.0 and Williams College (Mass.) fifth with 23.0.  A total of 80 teams scored points.

UW-L's Claire Elliott earned All-America honors in the 200-meter dash with an eighth-place finish (24.72) Saturday.  It is Elliott's first career outdoor All-America award.  She was a member of UW-L's third-place 4x400-meter relay at the 2012 NCAA III Indoor Championships.

The Eagles' Bailey Sauerwein was 18th in the shot put (42-8 1/4).
