Geno Uhrbom from Greenway High School has been running cross country at the high school level since 7th grade. Being from Minnesota the state association allows middle school athletes to compete at the varsity level. Uhrbom hasn't just been competing on the varsity level either -- he's been excelling. He's run at the state meet in the class A division with his team the past two years finishing as their top runner each year. In 2015 he finished 63rd as a 7th grader, while in 2016 he improved that place to finish 24th as an 8th grader. So far this year he has been undefeated winning all three of the varsity races in which he's competed. He's one of only two athletes in the class of 2021 to break 16 minutes, having run 15:48.00 to win the GNK Titan Invitational. Watch for him in one of the top 10 spots at the Minnesota state meet this fall.
