Wisconsin's Meet of the Week: 2022 Hale Distance Night


Race Preview

Girls 800 Meter Run

Peyton Weiss (Sr., Milwaukee King), Rachel Helm (Sr., Muskego) and Annie Robinson (Fr., Dodgeville/Mineral Point) will all race in the 800 at Hale Distance Night. The trio finished fifth, sixth and seventh respectively at the 2022 Indoor State Track and Field Championships.

Girls 1600 Meter Run

Mackenzie Babcock (Fr., Monona Grove) will make her Distance Night debut coming off of a third-place finish at the state cross country meet. On the track, Babcock has already run 2:15 in the 800M - the best in the state this season. Returning is Middleton's Lauren Pansegrau - last year's Distance Night 1600M champ with a standing personal best time of 4:55.93.

Girls 3200 Meter Run

The 3200-meter race will see the return of two star juniors - Noelle Junig (Muskego) and Summer Schuster (Slinger), both with sub-11 minute personal bests from last year's Hale Distance Night.

Boys 800 Meter Run

The 800-meter race features returning Division 1 state champ Cael Schoemann (Sr., Hartford Union), along with  Yordanos Zelinski (Sr., Oregon), who finished second at the Indoor State Championships earlier this year.

Boys 1600 Meter Run

Homestead's Kyle Knutson enters the 2022 Hale Distance Night 1600 with a fresh 4:23.64 PR from last weekend's Distance Night in Palatine. Oconomowoc junior Zach Vance returns from a sixth-place finish at last year's distance night.

Boys 3200 Meter Run

Owen Bosley (Jr., Homestead) ran a 3200-meter PR of 9:05 earlier this season at the Arcadia Invitational and placed third at last weekend's Distance Night in Palatine 1600 in 4:17.47. Middleton's Griffin Ward also earned a 3200-meter personal best at the Arcadia Invitational (9:15.85) and will compete again at the distance tonight.
