JJ Williams has made a name for himself in distance running in the small town of Glenwood City.
During a breakout outdoor campaign in 2022, Williams broke not one, but three Glenwood City High School records, clocking times of 1:55.27 in the 800m, 4:27.50, for 1,600m and 9:50.92 at 3,200m.
The junior also earned a runner-up finish in the 800m at the WIAA D3 Outdoor Championships in his first-ever state meet appearance of his career.
Now, Williams is weeks away from the 2023 outdoor season, entering as the top returner at 800m in D3 and even greater expectations for himself as a senior.
MileSplit spoke with Williams ahead of the 2023 outdoor season on his record-setting feats last season and how he hopes to aim even higher in the coming months.
