Reflection: Nora Gremban

Earlier this season, Gremban opened up her senior year campaign with a 9th place finish during the Girl's Championship Race at Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota.

Nora Gremban (Northland Pines 2024) has had quite the journey since her high school campaign began in 2020, a year in which there was a lot of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that didn't stop her from making an early statement across Wisconsin, as she went undefeated that entire fall. Unfortunately, she had to cut that season short due to being notified that she had been in close contact with someone who had contracted the virus the day before the GNC Conference Meet.

The following two years, she kept the momentum going throughout that fall and finally had her chance to compete at not just the WIAA XC State Championships (3rd place finish), but also at NXR Heartland where she got a taste of non-domestic competition and rounded out that season with a 4th place finish during the open race and, at the time, a new personal best of 18:32.40. Once again during her junior year, she remained consistent and stayed undefeated throughout the main season up until the state championships with an improvement onto her previous' year finish with a runner-up title.

Now this past fall is where things really have kicked off for the senior, from opening up her season with a solid 9th place finish at the iconic Roy Griak Invitational, followed by her first sub-18 performance at Athens Invitational a week later, clocking a 17:43.90 to lower her personal best by over 20 seconds. It doesn't just end here though, just recently at the Great Northern Conference Meet, she put her name on the map with a Wisconsin #2 all-time performance with a stellar 17:06.60, just a few seconds shy of Lauren Pansegrau's 16:57.98 from 2021.

We recently caught up with Gremban for a few questions and insights on her high school campaign leading up to this weekend.
