Looks like one of our stars are keeping her talents within state borders!
Earlier today, Nora Gremban of Northland Pines announced on social media her commitment to attend and compete for the Badgers of the University of Wisconsin - Madison; a program that has asserted itself as one of the top distance programs not just in the Big Ten, but also in the NCAA as a whole.
The Badger Women, who are currently ranked 23rd on the recent USTFCCCA polls, are led by Mick Byrne, who has built quite the dynasty during his time at UW-Madison, with 8 NCAA appearances in the last 10 years for the ladies on the cross-country course. With this as well, several women that have competed under Byrne in the past have found their way onto the international scene including Alicia Monson, Gwen Jorgensen, Kelsey Card, Georgia Ellenwood, and Egle Staisiunaite.
Gremban, who recently took home the Division 2 title as an individual at the WIAA State XC Championships, has shown quite the progression and prowess on both the trails and the track the last few years, from running the 400m all the way up to the 5000m and currently settles herself as the WI #2 All-Time (17:06.60). Her performance is just right behind Lauren Pansegrau (16:57.98) but ahead of some legends from Wisconsin like Molly Seidel and Alicia Monson.
Her personal bests:
400m - 59.69
800m - 2:12.40
1600m - 4:53.30
1 Mile - 5:01.63
3200m - 10:59.20
5000m - 17:06.60
She is also accompanied by Sara Mlodik of D.C. Everest as Wisconsin natives that have announced their commitments to become Badgers next year.
Given Gremban's recent breakout performances this season and still having the indoor/outdoor season left of her senior year, she is sure to be a key factor for the Badgers in the years ahead once she dons the red and white of Wisconsin.
