Post-Season So Far: Road Races & Heartland Success
Charlize-Trinity McKenzie takes the 15-16 USATF 5K Title
From her middle school debut to early successes in high school running, Charlize-Trinity McKenzie, only a sophomore, has proven to be a force in the Wisconsin distance running community. On November 4th, she quietly claimed victory in the 15-16 year-old division of the USATF 5000 meter race that took place ahead of the 2023 NYC Marathon. McKenzie crossed the line in a time of 17:45.
Although missing from the course this past cross country season, McKenzie, who competes with P23 Family Racing, came off of a summer of success, earning an AAU Junior Olympic 800M title in Des Moines, IA over the summer. We'll look to see her on the track in upcoming months.

Individually qualifying with a tight runner-up finish is Manny Putz, who set a Wisconsin state record at the distance, but fell short on the individual victory by just a tenth of a second. It was a familiar sight, with Franzen, Putz and Lenn leading through the mile.
