Hi everyone, my name is Jenna Statz, and I'll be starting as the new editor for MileSplit Wisconsin!
I am a University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate. As an undergraduate, I studied Communications and Sports Communication. I recently completed my Master's degree with a concentration in Public Relations.
While at UW, I worked in the athletic department as a brand communications student assistant, overseeing operations with cross-country and track-and-field programs. I was a student assistant with the men's basketball team. I was tasked with running their social media accounts, writing meet features, and working on updating stats for the website, along with many other responsibilities. This is where I developed my love for cross country and track and field, so I jumped at the opportunity to continue working in the sports.
While working with the UW programs, I had the opportunity to travel and cover some of the best college meets, including the Nuttycombe Invitational, Big Ten Championships, NCAA West Preliminary Round, Great Lakes Regionals, and NCAA Championships.
I look forward to continuing to expand the awareness and excitement surrounding the sport. I am passionate about highlighting the achievements of Wisconsin athletes and teams.
My goal is to provide timely, on-the-ground coverage throughout the state and showcase talent and competition through features, videos, photos, and interviews.
I'm looking forward to getting things started!
