Emily Sisson, a Milwaukee native and a premier long-distance runner, recently competed in the marathon at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Sisson finished 23rd overall in the marathon crossing with a time of 2:29.25.
Despite not reaching the podium, Sisson's participation in the Paris Olympics added to her already remarkable career, which includes holding the American marathon record at 2:18.29, set at the 2022 Chicago Marathon. Over the years, Sisson has consistently proven herself as one of America's premier distance runners, setting records in both the marathon and half marathon.
The Paris Marathon took runners along the Seine River and past iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, which was Sisson's second Olympic appearance. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she competed in the 10,000 meters, finishing 10th overall as the leading American.
Sisson's journey reflects her resilience and dedication to track and field.
