Wisconsin's underclassmen track and field scene continues to show impressive early depth across every event group. Here's a breakdown of the top returning underclassmen talent to watch during the 2026 outdoor track & field season.
The sprint group remains the most explosive underclassmen event cluster in the state. Returning outdoor leader Nathan Tucker (Milwaukee Speed Academy) continues to set the standard after posting a 6.95 60-meter indoor performance and a 22.35 200-meter mark. His ability to transfer indoor acceleration into outdoor speed will be a major storyline once the season moves outdoors.
Minthike Soe (Milwaukee Speed Academy) leads the 2029 boys group with a 7.39 60-meter result, while Ricardo Nakielski Torr (Milwaukee Speed Academy) has shown consistency across sprint distances with a 23.43 indoor 200-meter performance.
On the girls' side, multi-event athlete Kyndoll Brooks (Milwaukee Mustangs) runs a 7.65 in the 55 meters, 8.17 in the 60 meters, 28.31 in the 200 meters, while also long jumping 14-11.75.
Another freshman sprint-jump contributor is Vera Avery (Milwaukee Speed Academy), who has produced 8.26 in the 60 meters and 28.56 in the 200 meters alongside a 15-8.50 long jump.
Sophomore versatility is highlighted by Victoria Hunter (Milwaukee Mustangs), who has run 8.29 in the 60 meters, 27.16 in the 200 meters, 1:03.92 in the 400 meters, and jumped 16-7.50 in the long jump indoors.
Mid-Distance
Angelina Goll (Brookfield Central) owns one of the most important sophomore benchmarks in the event group after breaking 60 seconds indoors with a 59.91 400-meter performance. Goll also posted a 2:26.95 800-meter result, showing how veristile of an athlete she is and the value she brings to her team..
The top returning underclassmen 800-meter mark belongs to Isabelle DeCabooter (Verona Area), who ran 2:21.27 indoors and remains one of the primary sophomore middle-distance contenders.
Freshmen middle-distance development is still forming but shows early promise through Berkeley Chaltry (Unattached - WI), who leads the 2029 group with a 2:33.64 indoor 800-meter performance.
Distance
Distance events are currently dominated by the sophomore class in terms of experience and returning outdoor continuity.
Benjamin Blattner (Menomonee Falls) is the most complete distance athlete in the preview field. His indoor results include 2:05.41 in the 800 meters, 4:21.34 in the 1500 meters, and 4:42.64 in the mile, making him a multi-distance threat once outdoor racing begins.
Girls' distance strength is led by Ana Reynoso (Ronald Reagan), who posted a 10:54.57 indoor 3000-meter performance along with sub-6-minute mile capability. When combined with her outdoor progression potential, Reynoso currently owns the strongest returning distance resume in the group.
Supporting the sophomore distance pool is Riley Spaulding (Homestead), who has shown 5:44.93 mile speed indoors.
Jumps and Vault
The horizontal jumps and pole vault highlight some of the most intriguing long-term development athletes in the state.
Brody Olsen (Weyauwega-Fremont) leads the sophomore boys jump group with indoor marks of 19-5.50 in the long jump and 40-7 in the triple jump.
On the girls' side, Josie Pawlak (Bonduel) stands out after clearing 17-0.50 in the long jump and 33-11.25 in the triple jump.
Freshmen power potential is visible in Kyndoll Brooks (St. Marcus Milwaukee), whose speed has translated into strong long jump performance, jumping 14-5 this indoor season.
The pole vault group features one of the most advanced freshmen field performances in the state through Elise Long (Polebender's Vault Club), who has already cleared 11-6 indoors.
