Despite consistent rain throughout the weekend, teams got out and competed at some of the biggest meets of the season so far! Check out some highlights from our coverage this weekend.
Waunakee-Baraboo Duel
Waunakee and Baraboo faced off in a cold, rainy duel on Thursday night. Waunakee ultimately took the lead in team scores for both boys and girls. Andrew Regnier had the fastest time of the night for the boys in 19:19.90. Kelsey King finished first for the girls in 21:55:40, giving Waunakee both individual wins as well.
Darlington Invitational
The two-day invitational showcased three separate race groups across Friday night and Saturday morning. Sophomore George West took first at his team's home invite with a time of 18:03.30. Boscobel came away with the boys team win; their number one runner Levi Glasbrenner (18:25.60) finished fifth overall.
On the girls side, Kayci and Hanna Martensen of Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton had another 1-2 finish this week, running times of 19:27.40 and 21.21.10 respectively. Sophomore Julia Thompson (22:17.20) lead Dodgeville/Mineral Point to a team win.
Jamie Block CC Invite
The grade-level challenge, originally slated to take place two weeks ago, finally got off to a start. Homestead had both the overall team and individual wins in Owen Bosley (16:54.84) and Leane Willemse (18.38.51). Check out the leaders at each grade level here.
Other Notable Performances:
- Poynette's own senior Katelyn Chadwick (19:29.59) came away with the individual win at the Poynette Invitational.
- New Richmond, lead by Max Blader and Cale Bishop, crushed the boys team competition at the Somerset Invite, with four runners finishing in the top 5 places
