Division 3 athletes across Wisconsin produced a deep and balanced postseason showing, with elite marks spread across sprints, distance, relays, and field events on both the boys and girls sides. While a few athletes separated themselves with standout, statewide-caliber performances, much of D3 is defined by tight competitive clusters heading into championship weekend.
Boys D3: Zawislan, Marcell Highlight a Deep, Balanced Field
Sprints: Tight 100m Field, Clear 400m Breakout
The boys' sprint group opened with one of the most competitive 100-meter races in the division, led by Paxton Kuehn (Shiocton) at 10.63. Close behind were Alex Wierzba (Rosholt) (10.72) and Zander Zawislan (Stratford) (10.80).
While the 100m was crowded, the longer sprints belonged to Zawislan. He delivered the fastest 200m in D3 at 21.79, then backed it up with a dominant 48.74 in the 400m.
Distance: Tight Margins Across All Three Events
The distance races showed strong depth and minimal separation at the top.
Each event featured a compressed chase pack, especially in the 1600 and 3200, where multiple athletes hovered within seconds of the lead.
Hurdles & Relays: Balanced Program Strength
Bracewell also contributed across the relay events, highlighting his versatility during the championship season.
Relay leaders were spread across multiple programs:
Marathon and Edgar stood out as the most consistently strong relay programs across the division.
Field Events: Marcell's Dominant Double
The most dominant athlete in the boys division was clearly Chris Marcell (Marathon).
- Shot put: 63-10.25
- Discus: 205-11
His discus mark in particular separated him from the rest of the state-level field.
Other event leaders included:
Girls D3: Doumbya, Duellman Duo Drive the Division
Sprints: Doumbya Controls the Division
The girls' sprint scene was led decisively by Batteh Doumbya (Madison Country Day).
Behind her, Bella Thomas (Assumption) was the clear No. 2 in both events, while Brianna Sherden (Stratford) and Maggie Wooten (Frederic/Luck) anchored a strong chase group.
In the 400m, Iszy Sonnentag (Cadott) led the division at 55.84.
Distance: Duellman Duo at the Center of D3
The Cochrane-FC program shaped the entire distance picture.
Both athletes consistently appeared near the top across multiple events, giving Cochrane-FC one of the strongest distance cores in the division.
The 3200m was led by Emmerson Drobac (Deerfield/Cambridge) in 11:04.04, with a deep group tightly packed behind her.
Hurdles & Relays: Depth Across Programs
Bushman also impacted sprint events during the championship season, adding versatility to her profile.
Relay leaders:
Cameron's sprint relay sweep stands out as one of the strongest combined relay performances in D3.
Field Events: Vander Galien's Versatility Leads the Way
Lindsay Vander Galien (Randolph/Cambria-Friesland) was the most well-rounded field athlete in the division:
- Long jump: 18-3.5
- Triple jump: 37-3.25

D3 Overall Outlook
Division 3 is defined by a mix of elite standouts and extreme depth.
- Boys: Zawislan (sprints) and Marcell (throws) headline the division
- Girls: Doumbya (sprints) and the Duellman duo (distance) anchor the top end
- Across both: Most events feature tight clusters behind the leaders, especially in the 100m, 800m, and 1600m
Heading into post-championship competition, D3 looks less like a division with gaps-and more like one with crowded podium battles waiting to unfold.
