Records Within Reach for Crenshaw
Step One: Repeat as State Champion
Step Two: Break D3 State Meet Record
Step Three: Break State Record
All above is possible for Bangor standout senior Sam Crenshaw at the 20224 State Championships. Crenshaw won the 2023 D3 pole vault with a mark of 15' 0", capping off an undefeated season. He is still undefeated this outdoor season, and most recently set a new PR of 16' 6", a mark which ranks #3 all-time in Wisconsin.
RANK | MARK | ATHLETE/TEAM | GRADE | MEET DATE PLACE |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 16-9.25 | Brookfield East | 2014 | |
2 | 16-8 | Hartford Union | 2023 | |
3 | 16-6 | Bangor | 2024 | |
4 | 16-3 | Big Foot | 2024 | |
5 | 16-0.5 | Green Bay Preble | 2013 |
Given the seed marks for the D3 boys pole vault, it almost seems a formality that Crenshaw will win his second straight title. With his seed of 16' 6", he is two and a half feet higher than any other boy qualifier. The question might now be, can he break the D3 state meet record of 15' 4" set by Noah Zastrow in 2017, and the state record of 16' 9.25" set by Glen Harold in 2014?
