Wisconsin's Top Performers at the National Level Indoors
Results from Wisconsin athletes at New Balance Nationals Indoor and Nike Indoor Nationals provide a strong indicator of outdoor potential. With multiple athletes competing and excelling on the national stage, Wisconsin talent is already proving competitive against some of the best in the country.
Sprints
Kyenret Rinkam (Brookfield Central) led the girls with a 7.52 in the 60m at Nike Indoor Nationals. Avery Bott (Milwaukee Speed Academy) made a major statement in the 200m, running 24.34 at Nike Indoor Nationals before doubling back with a 55.67 in the 400m, for one of the top all-around sprint performances of the week.
On the boys' side, Milwaukee Speed Academy performed well on the national stage. Nathan Tucker ran 7.01 in the 60m prelims at Nike Indoor Nationals, while teammates Jonathan Lopez (7.03) and Devon Williams Jr (7.04) added depth. In the 200m, Antonio Jackson (22.39) and Gabriel Olson (22.43) both posted strong national marks.
The 400m may have been the most impressive boys event nationally, with Javaryn Love (New Berlin Eisenhower) running 49.38 and Mavrik Plummer (Brodhead/Juda) close behind at 50.28-both at Nike Indoor Nationals; firmly establishing themselves as top quarter-milers heading into outdoor.
Relays
Milwaukee Speed Academy's presence was strongest in the relays. The boys squad ran 1:28.68 in the 4x200 for 6th and 3:23.59 in the 4x400 for 9th at Nike Indoor Nationals, both highly competitive finishes on the national stage. They also added an 8:03.02 in the 4x800.
On the girls' side, Milwaukee Speed Academy continued its dominance with a 1:39.17 in the 4x200 and 3:45.55 in the 4x400 at Nike Indoor Nationals for 4th and 2nd respectively.
Field Events
Field events produced some of Wisconsin's strongest national results.
Chris Marcell (Marathon) won the shot put at Nike Indoor Nationals with a massive 69-1.75 toss, one of the top marks in the country. Clark Howell (Oshkosh West) also claimed a national title in the triple jump (46-8), while Cole Zielinski (Milwaukee Speed Academy) placed 4th in the long jump (23-2.5).
In the high jump, Ashton Clark (Ladysmith) cleared 6-6.5 for 14th at Nike Indoor Nationals, while Aiden Goines (Menomonee Falls) added a 5th-place national finish in his division.
For the girls, Lexi Olmstead (Lancaster) cleared 5-6 in the high jump, and Emma Severson (Neenah)'s 46-10.75 in the shot put remains one of the top marks across all classes.
Outlook
Wisconsin athletes showed clear strength at the national level, particularly in the sprints, hurdles, relays, and field events. Milwaukee Speed Academy provided plenty to be excited about as a club, while individual standouts like Chris Marcell, Clark Howell, Mavrik Plummer, and Charlize-Trinity McKenzie proved competitive on a national level.
